Pull on the glove and set yourself up to hit off into the world of the Northern Gold Coast & Districts Veteran Golfers Association - a "par five" of a name chosen over twenty years ago to ensure that members of veteran golfers clubs associated with selected Gold Coast golf clubs could expand their horizons from their own club into the realms of the State and Commonwealth veteran golfers movements.

Whether you are fortunate enough to be with one of our member veteran clubs or seeking to join or are a "vet golfer" visiting the nation's playground or, even, just interested in how we serve this great game, you will see, as you drive, chip and putt your way through the following pages, the district's history, procedures, personnel and scope plus those of our clubs; our golf events schedule and results and regularly updated news, images and communications, all designed to keep you on par.

Enjoy the journey.

30 May 2020

To all members of District veteran golfers clubs.

Over the few months since our governments introduced community restrictions aimed at combating the pandemic, our club administrators and committees have been working hard to enable us to play golf at club level. Great work has been done to, progressively, provide lawful playing environments.

Nevertheless, off-course activities have necessarily suffered whilst we comply with the rules surrounding gatherings and social distancing regulations. Thus far, this has all but destroyed the social fabric of competition play within our own clubs and, whilst continual government reviews and relaxations are proceeding, a return to anything approaching general social interaction seems a fair way off.

A major objective of the district's annual golf events program, (encouraging and developing a spirit of fellowship amongst our clubs and members) is so severely impacted by the continuing social interaction regulations that the management committee has now resolved to continue the suspension of the 2020 golf schedule pending future government decisions. Clearly, the Peter Clarke Memorial Shield will not feature but, if circumstances become more acceptable, we are keeping options open to conduct a district championship and other open events before year's end.

Good news is that, the committee, aided by technical input from Bob Gilbert from Gainsborough Greens vets. has now established a comprehensive web site ( which will be a major communications vehicle to all clubs and members. We urge you to add to your iso activities and visit the site, now, to appreciate its value to our operations. In particular, our news page will be continually updated and clubs will be encouraged to make full use for news and information. A recommended addition to your favourites bar!

Arrangements are in place for the site to be also accessible from a link on the QVGU website.

The district management committee wishes you all continuing good health whilst enduring these social conditions.

With best regards.
